How to read this result

Three useful checks, kept deliberately short.

What this result includes

The result reports the weighted mean and makes every contribution available in the breakdown.

A practical example

Values 78, 84, 91 and 87 with weights 20, 30, 25 and 25: Multiply every value by its weight · Add the weighted contributions · Divide by the total weight.

Common input mistake

Weights may be percentages, credits or any consistent non-negative scale.

Formula and assumptions

Average = ΣValues ÷ Count; Weighted Average = Σ(Value × Weight) ÷ ΣWeights

Without weights, every value contributes equally. With weights, larger weights have more influence on the result.

Keep in mind: Use values and weights from the same scale and context.
